Christine Bush Roman is an artist, writer, and educator in Charleston, South Carolina. She earned her Master of Fine Arts Degree in 2013 and works to combine visual art and storytelling.
Christine is interested in how one’s internal world intersects with the requirements and expectations of society. Through this lens, she explores themes of neurodiversity, womanhood, science, magic, and human connection with nature. Christine's writing projects expand on the narratives that begin in the artwork.
Christine uses traditional water-based drawing and painting materials, but also incorporates collaged papers and textiles. In her studio, you will find trays of deconstructed drawings, handmade paper, and pictures pilfered from old books that will be used for collage. The artworks give a glimpse into a story that will get brought to life with the written word.
Christine's debut novel is scheduled to be released in 2022.
When not writing or making art, Christine can be found homeschooling her two children, stumbling upon new ways to fail her garden, and hanging out with animals.
