Christine Bush Roman (b. 1983) is a mixed media artist and educator based in Charleston, South Carolina. She earned her MFA from the University of Georgia in 2013. Christine’s work digs into in themes of neurodiversity, womanhood, and the perception of time, but never takes itself too seriously. With anthropomorphized creatures, patterns, and sprawling organic shapes, her pieces straddle the line between whimsical and unnerving. Typically working in traditional water-based drawing and painting materials, Christine often incorporates collaged papers, textiles, and found objects into the pieces.
When not making things or in the trenches of parenthood, Christine can be found digging holes, writing fiction, or running long distances at very unimpressive speeds.
